Industrial and machinery noise and vibration
'Industrial and machinery' noise and vibration is a very general category which may include- neighbourhood or environmental noise and vibration from factories and plant
- noise and vibration at work
- prediction and measurement and control of noise and vibration from machinery
- acoustics of factory spaces and their effect on noise levels from machines
In this section we have included some general information on industrial noise, and some specific information on the European Machinery Directive, which imposes the need to measure the noise emission and in some cases the vibration of almost all machines produced or sold in the European Union.
We have recently undertaken an investigation with various local authorities in the West Midlands into the control of neighbourhood noise from forges and foundries. The project, the Black Country Forge and Foundry Project, was supported by funding from the European Union.
